Frequently Asked Questions
How does a Senior Engineering Manager role at Brex compare to similar positions at large public tech companies?
Roles at growth-stage fintech like Brex generally combine direct multi-team leadership with hands-on architecture influence, while public-company equivalents tend to be more process-heavy and narrower in scope. Brex's Acquisition function specifically spans customer-facing onboarding, KYC integrations, and AI-enhanced activation flows — a wider remit than equivalent FAANG roles where each subsystem may have its own director.
What does the three-day hybrid schedule look like in practice at Brex Seattle?
The Brex Seattle office requires Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday in-office attendance, with Tuesday and Friday flexible. The company also offers up to four weeks of fully remote work per year, typically used for extended travel or family commitments. Coordinated days emphasize cross-functional collaboration; remote-flex days emphasize deep work.
What is the engineering organization structure at Brex?
Brex engineering spans Software, Data, Security, and IT functions operating with high team autonomy and shared technical standards. The Acquisition group reported into this role sits within the broader Customer Growth engineering organization, which partners closely with GTM (Sales, Marketing) and Operations. Senior Engineering Managers typically oversee three to five sub-teams of seven to twelve engineers each.
